Assignments:
1. Actively use Twitter for the next two weeks (at least a few minutes per day)...Tweet your team mates about the book you’re reading on social media, tell us what industry and companies you are following, share relevant links to articles or websites you've found, respond to each other's tweets, etc.
2. Tweet questions at two of our book authors (re class discussion, their book, our final project, social media in general, etc) and be prepared to share with the class on Jan 26 (they have both agreed to answer questions via Twitter). In order to give them time to respond, you might want to do this earlier in week rather than later :)
Ann Handley
@MarketingProfs and C.C. Chapman @cc_chapman (authors of Content Rules)
3. Chris Brogan (author of Trust Agents and of Social Media 101) has agreed to make a video that responds to our questions as his schedule is too full right now for a Skype interview or connection on Twitter). Come to class with questions for him and I'll email them to Chris after class. I'm thinking we might pick his brain about the final project.

Questions for Chris:
ReplyDeleteWhat would you say to the people that don't embrace social media?
What do you think will be the next boom in social media?
What was your inspiration for the book?
I would like to know:
ReplyDeleteWhat identity should a company use for Twitter? Some have mutiple users hosting for a company's handle, like @company and anyone with access to the account can answer any question. Some have one person as the official spokesperson and make their personal information known along with their affiliation to the company. And some have mutiple spokespeople that carry handles like @jessicacompany and @ericacompany.
Which do you prefer or think is most successful?
What advice do you have for a wedding photography business to get themselves more active in social media? Also what platforms in your opinion would be best for them?
ReplyDeleteChris Brogan:
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do to continue learning? Best Stitcher stations/books/other's blogs/ebooks/white pages that you access?
How do you determine what content will be interesting to your readers (http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2013/01/interesting.html)
Which musicians are doing a great job marketing themselves via social media?
What is the biggest hurdle to a successful social media program? How do you overcome it?
ReplyDeleteWhat are the best tools/ways to "build an army" for a band?
Chris Brogan:
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of questions. Feel free to pick as many or as few as you'd like. :)
For a band, how many social networks is the "ideal" number to use in order to reach potential audiences without stretching yourself too thin (and which ones would you use)?
Also, what are your thoughts on the new MySpace? Do you think the resurrection is going to work because it's backed by a big name (Timberlake) or are people just over it? Do you foresee it being used primarily by musicians & artists or will the general public also participate? If the general public doesn't participate, do you think just the musicians & artists will be enough to sustain it?
Looking forward to reading "It's Not About The Tights"!
Thanks!
