January  26:

Here are some guidelines for your bookclub presentations.

Presentations should be 35-40 minutes per team, which should include time to answer any questions the class may have.  Develop an interesting and creative way to present your material to us (don't just lecture to us).  Keep in mind that you are not just doing a book review but are training us on the major concepts in your book.

I will be looking for:
Introduction:  quick overview of order of presentation; Introduce team members with first and last names; start with something to grab our attention; give brief info on author(s) of book.

Actual presentation:  creative!; involved class members; good transitions between team members; got the essence of the book across to the class (do not have to cover everything in book--decide what is most relevant to your classmates).

Appropriate visual aids (if used): easy to read; slides add to presentation/not distracting; appealing graphics; may videotape part of presentation if want (however, don't just tape someone lecturing/make sure videotape adds to presentation).

Speaking skills:  projection of voice, eye contact, easy to understand, did not read to us.

Training materials:  Short summary of book and how could be used as training tool.  Include sufficient information, no typos, organized logically, useful information (sort of a 2-3 page or so Cliff notes on highlights of book that will help us learn more about social media and hopefully apply to the final project). Copy of this for me and for your classmates.

Team:  Appropriate professional dress; working well together, equal distribution of work and presentation time, answered questions as a team after presentation.

I will be asking for feedback on the process and inputs of each team member. In addition, I will ask each person to do a self evaluation of how they did during their presentation (what went well, what could be improved on) as a way to learn from the presentation experience.  This will be completed and turned into me the day of your presentation.

How's that for structure? :)   Email me if you have any questions.
